Álvaro José Peña was born in Cali, Colombia on January 17, 1991. He studied Communication Sciences and Audiovisual Production at the Pontifical Xavierian University in Bogotá, Colombia, where he received an Honorable Mention for his outstanding Thesis “Bogotá: Music District, a web documentary about street musicians and public space in the capital”. He founded a production company called Keep Movie which specializes in commercial and author documentary generally involving dance, music and folklore. He, also, has worked with international brands creating audiovisual content involving communication for development within the documentary genre. His debut film, “The Route of Cumbia” is actually on production process.
The vision as a director is to use visual art as a transgressive tool of reality. Kaddume is a project where girls are the protagonists of the story. They speak from their female corporality, about paths of freedom of their ancestors. They empower through movement of their past and present voice.
