FREE VERSE Poem: Half Me, Half You, Scorpio, by

Performed by Val Cole

—-
POEM:

You got that midnight skin,
that deep, dark water
that takes the moon to pierce.

I’ve thread my laugh
on the end of a needle
and stitched it between every breath.

You don’t just kiss.
You cut.
Deeply.
That Scorpio tail,
swinging, venom soaked,
with a hint of truth.

I took that needle,
looped in my laugh,
and strung my soul to yours.

You’d sting me dead,
let them tell it.
Little do they know
I like the way your tail swings.

You told me to let go,
and I did.
My soul stitched to yours,
my venom not as sweet as yours.

You don’t just fall in love,
you dig.
You crawl.

With my soul stitched to yours,
I breathe below the surface
you and that midnight skin.

You took that needle
and that thread.
And though you laugh,

Now I walk crooked.

Half me,
half you.
Little do they know
I like the way your tail swings
