Patrick T, Gehlen is an animator and artist living in Los Angeles, with his lovely wife, Kimberly and their fabulous, furry kids. While Requiem for a Crab is his directorial debut, he has worked on such shows as Dr. Strange, The Mandalorian and Game of Thrones. In 2019 he won an Emmy for his role as Previs Lead for Game of Thrones.
Director Statement
This musical journey began as a hauntingly poignant and melancholy song by the very talented Jared Kotler & George Vitray. The story that it conjured in my mind was one of a brave group of astronauts and a determined little girl, as they tried valiantly to bring a spark of life back to our dying planet. The existential threat of climate change is already unfolding before us in extreme and devastating ways. My hope is that Astronaut Spaceman might help motivate viewers to fight for a sustainable future for everyone, and be reminded that however bleak things seem, we must never give up hope.
