Director Statement
only living boy; a love/hate story for New York comes from my own feelings of being an artist in NYC and what it feels like to wake up everyday and pursue our dreams in a city that beats us down relentlessly. Artists are equally inspired and disparaged. Our character, girl, enters a day the same as any other as two different parts of herself. Simply put, some days she is happy and other days she is sad. The song is a cover of Paul Simon’s “Only Living Boy in New York,” newly reimagined and arranged by Kat Lee and six intersectional musicians.
