Yann Lagoutte a.k.a MindPictures has been a VFX artist for the past 17 years, working on feature films like Alexander and Silent Hill and more recently The last Duel, as well as numerous commercials. His first own short was 2012’s experimental black and white film ‘Dedication’. Now he is creating and directing animation and live action shorts and focusing on meaningful projects.
He is also a photographer, very keen on capturing the soul of his subjects.
Director Statement
Uncertainty has been a major driving force while creating this film. Uncertainty in my personal situation, but also regarding the state of the world, and in the matters of life itself.
I chose to use it, to allow it into the otherwise perfect and routine world of computer graphics. I’m a strong believer that character stems from imperfection and accidents (happy or not).
This film is a metaphor that I hope the audience will interpret for themselves.
To me, it’s about embracing the unexpected when every attempt at control failed.
