Short Film: MOVIE THEATRES: LIGHT & SOUND, 6min., Canada, Experimental

Art house cinema is dying. Many Independent theatres sit vacant as would-be patrons amble past extinguished marquees. At night, they come to life. The lights, the popcorn, the magic of the cinema. But in the age of “home streaming”, is this experience enough? Only you, the viewer, can decide.

Director Biography – Jamie Robertson

Jamie Robertson is a 23-year-old filmmaker from Kingston, Ontario. On top of directing Movie Theatres: Light & Sound, Jamie has also directed a silent short, ‘Popcorn’ as part of his first-year studies at Humber College. Jamie was also this year’s recipient of the Stewart Aziz Memorial Scholarship, presented to a second or third-year student in the Film and Television Production program who has demonstrated passion for the industry, and is also one of only six second year students this year to have their script chosen for production by faculty in the new year. Jamie has also served as a stream editor for Queen’s University and will be Head Picture Editor on Humber College’s production, ‘Cannibal Dad’, in 2022.
