Anouk Brouwer left her small hometown in The Netherlands at the age of 18 to chase her dreams by attending acting classes at The New York Film Academy. One year later, this was followed by a comprehensive acting course in London.
Acting shaped a psychological part in her that she connects to film making: direction. She instinctively connects personal behaviour with performance, visual identity and artistic expression.
Every day, she investigates and examines cultures and human behavior within the postmodern era. Her films always subjectively question visual expression in the realm of fashion.
Anouk Brouwer is a conceptual filmmaker at the start of her career as a director, seeking to create visual artworks with maximum abstraction, triggering the imagination of the viewer; a permanent quest to leave Earth as it is and reconnect with one’s true inner fantasy.
