Kaddume Short Film, Audience FEEDBACK from Experimental/Music/Dance Festival Oct. 2019

KADDUME, 3min., Columbia, Dance

Directed by Álvaro José Peña, Sergio López Guevara, Rodrigo García, Roberto Ávila

“Kaddume” is an expedition that recognizes San Basilio de Palenque’s past and future relationships. It’s a look to and from the body, the land they live in and the voice of their female ancestors. The same ones that opened new paths in search of freedom. This dance is a new approach through rhythm and movement, to that strength and wisdom. It is an homage of these girls, not professional dancers, to that empowered walk of freedom that still lives in their bodies.

Animal Short Film, Audience FEEDBACK from Experimental/Music/Dance Festival Oct. 2019

ANIMAL, 7min., France, Dance

Directed by Raphaël THIERS

This short film is an adaption of the performance Animale (choreography by Lisie Philip, music by Laurent Tamagno). It was produced for an event in the MAMAC (the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Nice) called “la Nuit des Musées” in 2017. I perceived the show as a celebration of the vitality of the body which is hunted and cornered but also resistant and pugnacious. The ardour and youthness of the tense muscles reminded me of creepers around a tree. I admired the transcendental beauty of the protean animality, oscillating between a quadruped, a reptile and a bird. I wanted to confront, as a last hunt, this body to young to die to the cold beauty of the cutting room of the old slaughterhouse of Nice.
