Director Statement

As a young adult, keeping up with sports comes second to school and work. This is why a year ago I made the conscious effort to get back into one of my favorite activities, water polo. Going back to a sport can be a depressing and often humiliating process. I approached Ryan with the idea of this film soon after I realize how far off the horse I had fallen. This is how we came up with the idea of ‘GET BACK.’

Though the story presented in this short is true, it ultimately is not a story about water polo. Get Back is about the physical journey one must take in order to jump back on the proverbial horse.

Ryan, my co-director, was the one person who went on this trek with me. We went on this journey together, we made the film together. Whether it is a pastime, hobby, or sport everyone can relate to growing distant to something. We all have something we hope to one day reclaim. It is just about finding the time and persevering.
