HAUL, 5min., Czech Republic, Music Video The theme of the June 2018 ANIMATION & EXPERIMENTAL FEEDBACK Film Festival in Toronto was “Innocence Lost”. Every single film was about characters who lost their idealism.
These types of festivals bring on a whole new crowd and with that an entirely new conversation in the feedback section. These are divisive films that many times attempt to make a social or political commentary on the world.
In the other festivals, the conversation is more about the storytelling – the plots and characters in the films we present. With the Animation & Experimental Festival the discussions lean more towards the thematics and overall points of the film. The subtext and emotions. How is makes us feel!
So if an audience member would go to our Comedy Festival for example on week, an then this festival the next week, they would think we are at a different venue or city.
I like these festivals. The event and films always makes me think days afterward. It stays with me for a long time. I keep going back to the films and what was said.
There is SO much talent out there. It’s amazing actually. Whatever we can do to help get more people to see these films.
