Short Film: BALLERINA, 13min., South Korea, Dance

“Until when do you want to dance?”

“I want to dance until my daughter Jion is old enough to remember my dancing”

This is the conversation I had, a year ago, with HaeJin Yoon who visited Korean National Ballet after a long time.
When I became part of the Korean National Ballet, HaeJin was already a principal dancer.
Afterward, she joined les ballet de montecarlo, but soon had to quit because of the injuries.

The life of dancers.
The moments on stages are beautiful yet short.

Throughout my career, I have seen many fellow dancers retire. Each of them had their own reason, but, surely, lack of passion for dance wasn’t one.

Even after the retirements, their passion ceaselessly dances in their hearts.

The video is about a ballerina’s comeback for her daughter and is made for all dancers who still remember and long for the moments on the stage.

Short Film: FORMS, 3min., South Africa, Dance

78899a58f3 posterThree art forms: dance, music and film combined on a single canvas in an audiovisual explosion!

A coming together of three creative forces, FORMS sees hip-hop artist Rouge, choreographer Rudi Smit and director Alex Fynn collaborate on a dance music video that highlights their respective talents and presents it in one neat package. Set in an apocalyptic future, circa 2034, where groups are forbidden from mobilising and are closely monitored to prevent them from challenging the overarching control of the city, a small mob of individuals comes together under the leadership of Rouge to unite against the system. “The aim of the mob is to make some sort of powerful but peaceful statement that challenges the security. That they don’t have the power to stop these rebels from being united for change.”
